Parent Meetings
New This Month

There are a number of problem-solving collaborations that are run through the counseling office based off of teacher, parent, administration, student, and staff recommendations.  Highlighted below are a couple of those collaborative interventions which may be used to assist students throughout the year.

Staffings - Staffings are generally held at the request of parents, teachers, or administrators.  They are held before or after school and generally involve parents/guardians, teachers, and anyone else in the school knowledgeable about the student.  Facilitated by the counselor, they are a way for everyone to get updates on student progress, and to problem-solve together to work on ways to best help students succeed at Maywood.

Guidance Team - Guidance team is a general education process designed to help educators and parents problem solve.   The team is comprised of School Guidance Counselors, School Psychologist, Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Teachers, Parents and other School Professionals as needed.

What is the purpose of Guidance Team???
The purpose of the program is to identify students with behavioral and academic weaknesses that are significantly impacting their school success.  The Team's goal is to identify possible interventions and resources, develop a plan of action, and/or a referral for a special education evaluation may be suggested.

 How do I get started???
Guidance Team referral forms are located in the Counseling Office or by clicking
hereWhen completed, return the form to Dick Luther.  A meeting date will be scheduled and all necessary individuals will be invited to the meeting.
